Sick baby boy

Good morning! Wanted to share a video of Shaun eating applesauce. Not the biggest fan but they say that it takes a baby almost 20 times trying a food before they truly decide whether or not they like it. Not to mention he is sick so he doesn't seem to be as hungry as usual.
We took Shaun to the doctor last week and he has finally doubled his birth weight...14.5 lbs! I think that starting him on solids has definitely helped as well as adding a bit of formula in with his bottles. He has moved into 6-9 month clothes. Is that possible?! I held up one of his newborn outfits last week and told Mike that I have a hard time remembering that he was ever that small.
You will hear in the video that he has come down with a little cough. Called the doctor last night and after answering a million questions, she said that there is really nothing you can do. Gave us signs to watch out for and told us to call if he has a fever. I feel so helpless when I know he isn't feeling well and all I can do is hold him. He is napping now so hopefully some sleep will help :)

5 months old!

It's been a crazy couple of weeks which would explain my slacking when it comes to updating the blog. Between family visiting, a trip to Chicago to see friends and a business meeting in Miami, I can barely keep my days straight!
Shaun is changing before our very eyes. I can't believe how each day brings something new and different. Today was a big day for him! He ate avocado (see video below) for the first time. Turns out he feels the same way about avocado as his dad does...yuck! And he sat up by himself today both in the bathtub and on his changing pad! He is starting to play games like peek a boo and is really observant. His favorite thing to do is watch Jake walk from room to room. He gets the biggest kick out of it!
Below I am including two videos...one with Shaun eating avocado and the second with him eating oatmeal. What a difference! Our little man absolutely LOVES oatmeal. We can't get it in his mouth fast enough. He even reaches for the bowl sometimes. Love how he opens his mouth wide when he wants another bite.
I am also including some pictures from the past two weeks. The ones with his elephant are his 5 month photos. It's fun to go back and look at his picture each month in that chair. Crazy how much a baby can change in five months! I've also included pictures of him sitting up, eating and one from when my friend Michelle came to visit with her new little boy Dane. And finally one of him in his adorable crab bathing suit from Aunt Di. Too cute!!! Thank goodness it is finally warming up here. Can't wait to take my little man to the beach. Hope you enjoy the pics and videos!!!

My happy boy

4 month stats

So we finally went to the doctor. Poor Shaun...3 shots later he was one sad little boy. He is still in the 25th percentile for weight...coming in at 12 lbs 5 oz. He is just short of 25 inches which puts him in the 50th percentile for height. Still a little guy but the doctor is pleased and said he is growing right on track!
We started Shaun on rice cereal this week. Just a little bit at night before bed. We've only tried it once and it was quite an adventure. Not sure he knows what to do with it at this point. And from the look on his face, he isn't fond of the taste either. His mood definitely improved after putting him in the tub for some post meal clean-up!

In other news...Shaun is teething! We started noticing he has been a bit fussier than usual the past week or so. I didn't even consider teething because it seemed a little early to me. But after putting a finger in his mouth and feeling his gums I found out the root of our problems. A little tooth making it's way through Shaun's poor gums. Guess I would be fussy too! Ouch!
I can't believe how much Shaun is changing. I race home every day to pick him up from daycare and it is always the highlight of my day. I just can't get enough of my little man. This age is so much fun. Every day it seems he is doing something new. He is getting a lot stronger and is so close to sitting up. He is still not rolling over consistently but every once in a while he will do a little roll to keep us guessing. He loves his bath. Last night he got water on the walls and all over the floor. Quite the splasher! And full of smiles as always!!!
