Shaun masters eating a plum

So we decided instead of cutting up a plum for Shaun to just try and give him the whole thing. As you can see, he had no problem figuring out what to do with it. He cracks me up in this video.

So cute in the mornings!

One of my favorite things to do in the morning is to just sit back with a cup of coffee and watch Shaun play. It's so fun to watch him babble and move from toy to toy. So I thought it would be fun to just turn on the camera and sit back quietly so that you can see what I see each day. My favorite parts of this video are when he lifts his leg up to try and get on the bus (he has not mastered this skill yet!) and if you listen closely you will notice he says "ball" twice when he sees the green ball. This is one of his newest words. And as you will see..we are taking some steps! He can move all around the kitchen with that bus but as soon as he lets go, he's back down. But we are making progress!
I am also including some pictures of his new pillow pet from Grandma and Grandpa. As you can see, he isn't the only one in this house who likes it :)

So soft! I think Shaun likes it :)

Great weekend!!!

It was a weekend of firsts for Shaun! Mike's sister Tara came to visit with her husband Mark and my three nieces. Shaun had a blast hanging out with his cousins. On Sunday we all went to the beach and met Mike's sister Kristin and my nephew Connor there. It was Shaun's first time playing at the beach. We had taken him once before when he was just sitting up and ended up staying for only 5 minutes. This time we spent a few hours there and Shaun played the ENTIRE time! He loved the water and even though it was cold, didn't seem to mind! We built his first sand castle and even played in the waves.

Last night we took all the kids to their first baseball game. The kids played on the playground all night and Shaun had fun being outside. Needless to say, we were all pooped at the end of the day. Monday came too soon. So much fun to spend the weekend with family. Attached are some pics and videos of the weekend!

9 month stats are in!

Okay...so he's almost 10 months. But we just went to the doctor on Friday so here they are....
Weight...21.5 lbs. Shaun is in the 48th percentile for weight.
Height...29 inches. Mike is pleased to announce that Shaun is in the 75th percentile in this category :)
Appt went well. Doctor is pleased with Shaun's development and said that everything looks great!
Mike and I had such a nice weekend with Shaun. Ran errands, spent time with friends, went swimming in the pool. It was exactly what we needed. A nice, uneventful couple of days. We have been so busy lately. It was so great to just spend time at home.
We ended up buying Shaun an activity table on Saturday. Now that he is pulling up to stand, I wanted him to have a toy he could pull up on and play with. As you can tell from the video below, he is very happy with his new toy!

Time is going by too fast!!!!!!!!!

How is it that a month has gone by since I last posted?!?! I honestly did not realize it had been that long. Shaun has become quite the busy bee and because of that, I feel like I have no time to do anything!
Wow...where to begin. Well, we are less than two weeks away from Shaun's 10 month birthday. Is it possible that I will be planning his first birthday party soon??? I don't have an update on his weight and height because we haven't had his 9 month doctor's visit yet. So more to come this Friday....
You would not believe how much Shaun has changed in the last month. He has gone from a cautious crawler to a full out speed demon. He zooms around the house like he's been crawling for years. He has also mastered the crab walk. He figured this one out at my parents house in Dunedin. All of my mom's rugs were hurting his knees so this seemed to be his solution to the problem. Quite a clever little boy if I do say so myself.
As for words, Shaun has mastered dada, dog and go. He will throw out the occasional mama to keep me happy but doesn't say it regularly. He still has a ridiculous appetite and has the tummy to prove it. We have started introducing him to a lot of finger foods. He loves fruit and little pieces of bread. Even tried some ziti this weekend and was a big fan.
He is also officially a stander as of this weekend. He began to pull himself up on my mom's dishwasher and it took off from there. He is pulling up on everything and I have to admit...it is making me quite nervous. He's already taken a number of bumps to the head. Guess I better get used to it huh?
Shaun also went on his first plane ride over the July 4th weekend. We went up to Wisconsin to visit my Brian and Michele and my parents met us there. What a awesome vacation. Wish I could just pack my whole family up in my suitcase and bring them home with me. You don't realize how great it is to be together until you have the opportunity. And then you don't want to leave!!! Shaun was such a good boy on the plane. Slept a good bit on each plane ride. There were a few fussy moments but nothing a snack or a good toy couldn't fix. Not sure I could have done it alone though. Mike was a huge help.
As I'm sure most of you know my grandmother passed away last week. Shaun and I spent the past 5 days down in Tampa where we once again had a chance to spend more time with family. Although I wish it could have been under different circumstances, it was nice to see everyone. Shaun met his great grandma when he was just 3 months old. Although I know he won't remember it, I am so happy I can tell him about the wonderful woman that she was and about the day that she met him. She will be greatly missed.
I am including some pictures and videos below. Hopefully they will capture the changes in my sweet little boy. He is a wild man but continues to make my life better with each passing day :)
