Happy 1st Birthday Shaun!!!

It's hard to believe that just one year ago today I was an hour away from meeting my sweet boy for the very first time. How quickly time passes and how much can change in a year! After Shaun went to bed tonight Mike and I sat together on the couch and watched old videos of him. It makes me smile looking back on the past year. We went into this journey so naive and so scared and although there are still days where we feel like we are new to this parenting thing...we have learned so much and are loving every moment we spend watching Shaun grow. What a sweet little boy he has turned out to be. And what an honor and a blessing it has been to be his mom and dad. I can't wait to see what next year brings for our family!

As for us...it has been a crazy month. Between work, planning Shaun's party and everything in between...this month has just flown by! Shaun has been a very busy boy. He is still into everything and even took his first steps unassisted last week! His birthday party was wonderful! So much effort and planning went into it and it was worth every single stressed out moment :) I think I may have taken the Dr. Seuss theme a little far. But if you know me well, you know I love the little details. So I couldn't help myself when it came to planning this party. I know Shaun won't remember any of it but it made me happy to make his first birthday party a special one. I am including some pics below. Also attached some videos from my day with the birthday boy.
We go to his one year appt in the morning so I will update you on his latest numbers then. Have a good night!!! I am off to bed. Still recovering from the weekend festivites!

Can't believe it's September!

So needless to say, we have been quite busy lately. Which explains why I have been such a slacker in updating the blog! It has been a VERY rough week for Shaunie. He cut two more teeth on the top and according to my pediatrician, the teeth he was cutting are sometimes called "stomach teeth." I now know why. Shaun had it coming from both ends. I got to experience cleaning throwup out of the car and off his carseat for the first time. And let me tell you...not the most pleasant experience! Today is the first day that he seems to be back to his old self. Thank goodness! I was starting to miss my silly boy!
Had Shaun's one year pictures taken last week. I am so in love with this photographer. She captured so many sweet images on Shaun that I am so excited to frame and put up in the house. I am including some below and I think you will agree...the pics are just beautiful!!!
I am also posting a video that I hope will make you laugh as much as it does me. We bought Shaun a new music set and you will see that Mike has taking more of a liking to it than Shaun has! Too funny! I hope this update finds all of you doing well. Shaun is pulling at my feet so I will have to type more next time! Lots of love!!!

Best weekend!!!

I couldn't have asked for a better weekend!!! We spent the majority of the weekend with our good friends Josh and Katie. They are expecting their second son this fall and ever since Shaun was born, we haven't seen much of each other. We went over to their house for dinner on Saturday night. Mike was pretty tired as he had been in Vegas all week for a meeting. I know...tough life. But he did take a red eye back so he definitely was recovering from that for a few days.
Sunday we met back up with Josh and Katie and drove north to Amelia Island to visit a place called black rock beach. It really is an amazing place. There are trees all over the beach that have come down over the years and through the beating of sand and surf, have become smooth and washed out. Hard to describe...but so beautiful. We spent the morning hanging out and letting the boys play and finished out the weekend with lunch and drinks on the beach while listening to some live music. For a brief moment there, I felt like we were on vacation. Just what we needed! So thankful for the wonderful friends in our lives!
Wanted to show you some pictures from the weekend :)

Happy Birthday Grandma!

Today is my Grandma's birthday! So this blog entry is for you Grandma!
Did our best this morning to get a good birthday video but Shaun was being a bit fussy. So here is the best we could do! Wishing you the happiest of birthdays and wishing we could be there to celebrate with you. We love you so much! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Shaun masters eating a plum

So we decided instead of cutting up a plum for Shaun to just try and give him the whole thing. As you can see, he had no problem figuring out what to do with it. He cracks me up in this video.

So cute in the mornings!

One of my favorite things to do in the morning is to just sit back with a cup of coffee and watch Shaun play. It's so fun to watch him babble and move from toy to toy. So I thought it would be fun to just turn on the camera and sit back quietly so that you can see what I see each day. My favorite parts of this video are when he lifts his leg up to try and get on the bus (he has not mastered this skill yet!) and if you listen closely you will notice he says "ball" twice when he sees the green ball. This is one of his newest words. And as you will see..we are taking some steps! He can move all around the kitchen with that bus but as soon as he lets go, he's back down. But we are making progress!
I am also including some pictures of his new pillow pet from Grandma and Grandpa. As you can see, he isn't the only one in this house who likes it :)

Jake thinks this is his new dog bed!

So soft! I think Shaun likes it :)

Great weekend!!!

It was a weekend of firsts for Shaun! Mike's sister Tara came to visit with her husband Mark and my three nieces. Shaun had a blast hanging out with his cousins. On Sunday we all went to the beach and met Mike's sister Kristin and my nephew Connor there. It was Shaun's first time playing at the beach. We had taken him once before when he was just sitting up and ended up staying for only 5 minutes. This time we spent a few hours there and Shaun played the ENTIRE time! He loved the water and even though it was cold, didn't seem to mind! We built his first sand castle and even played in the waves.

Last night we took all the kids to their first baseball game. The kids played on the playground all night and Shaun had fun being outside. Needless to say, we were all pooped at the end of the day. Monday came too soon. So much fun to spend the weekend with family. Attached are some pics and videos of the weekend!
